last weekend I spontaneously spent in hveragerði and it was great!

on friday evening I decided to join a few of the other volunteers for a day in hveragerði and so on sat. morning I woke up earlier then ever and went together with torge and karen to the famous hitchhiking petrol station. even though ot was so early and there were nearly no cars on the street we didn't have to wait long to get picked up! actually the guy first passed and then turned back and gave us quite a shock by suddenly stopping in front of us! but we got in and he brought us directly to the clinic!

it was actually still dark when we arrived and everyone there was still asleep! but we went in and.. didn't seriously try to be calm ;-) well, after a while everyone got up and we had breakfast... I actually have no idea what time it was when we started on our hiking trip... but before we left we had a long discussion about where to go that didn't really got anywhere... when everyone was finally leaving jenni and me stayed a little longer and said we would follow later! and so we did! abt. 20-30 min. later we also started. to our surprise we could actually see the others on a mountain and started following them! the weather was just amazing just a little cold... but so the ground was frozen and it was easier to walk on! our decision on what direction to go to was mainly made by seeing the others somewhere ahead and following... ;-)

in between we then decided to have a little break and so we just sat down where we were somewhere on a mountain and stayed there for abt. 20 min! then we wanted to find someway down, but that was easier said than done! on our wat we saw milosz, torge and roman... at the other side of a creek! but we finally managed to get to each other and continued together!

the way down was for sure not the easiest! the problem was that most of the time you couldn't be sure if the ground beneath wasn't just giving in or sliding down... and after milosz nearly slipped (and he would have fallen quite deep...) we all had a rest there at the mountain! there a lot of pictures and some interesting movies (volunteers talking icelandic...) were produced. I will probably put them online soon...

finally back at the clinic we all went to the swimming pool (what else ;-) ). and the rest of the day we just stayed lazy... well i nthe night we had another nice experience: we saw really great northern lights! and I was actually able to take some pictures! not really great once but they can be seen!! they will also be put online soon!
the next day was mostly just hanging around in the swimming pool and watching endless episodes of "how I met your mother" while most people were leavin gme and karen decided to stay one more night and just go back on monday morning! and so we did! and that was probably one of the easiest hitchhikes we ever had! the first car stopped and brought us to reykjavik. unfortunately that guy just went to some industrial area where he was working but with the bus we were home about half an hour later!

and so I still had one hour to sleep until I started work ;-)
well yes that was my weekend... pictures are coming!!
